Becoming a LCS Focus School: A “ Learning Centered Focus School” is one where school leaders and teachers seek continuous learning and continuous instructional improvement to promote teacher efficacy. Educators study and apply the principles defined in the : Creating the Learning Centered School,designed and developed by Mike Rutherford.
The LCS Summer Institute: This annual event is planned for teams from schools and districts which want to learn more about Creating the Learning Centered School. Held at the Ballantyne Resort in Mid-June, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Summer Institute promotes professional learning and discourse in an attractive environment.
LCS Media Series and Workbooks: The award winning LCS Series is based on eighteen fundamental principles of learning, which teachers at every grade level, in any teaching environment, can apply to more successfully teach any subject or curriculum. Designed as a catalyst for professional discourse, the LCS Media Series is used in site-based groups to improve instruction.
LCS Facilitator Training: Teacher leaders, interested in encouraging best practice, are trained as LCS school based facilitators. The three (half) day training program prepares facilitators to establish and develop successful, school based, professional study groups using the facilitator's manual.
On Site Training: Mike Rutherford, creator and developer of Creating the Learning Centered School, delivers high impact, energizing presentations which inspire educators to reflect upon and improve instructional practice.
